Riding Fury Home - full house at Laurel Books

This January, Chana Wilson presented moving excerpts from her memoir, Riding Fury Home, to a full house at Laurel Books.

Her book details her relationship with her mother Gloria, whose suicidal depressions and electric shock therapy make sense only after Chana and then Gloria come out in the 1970s. Gloria reveals that she’d been in a major love relationship with a woman in the 1950s, and that homophobia and her institutionalizations led to her hopelessness and despair.

Chana’s story highlights how lesbian community, politics and culture can literally save lives.
