Sister Love: The Letters of Audre Lorde and Pat Parker

BALA and Sinister Wisdom co-sponsored the book launch for Sister Love: The Letters of Audre Lorde and Pat Parker at Laurel Book Store on March 24, 2018. The event was sitting room only and there was a palpable buzz in the air. The launching of this book was a major event, because the two writers are beloved as internationally known black lesbians who both spoke powerful truths about the intersections of race, class, gender and sexuality. The event consisted of a mix of original writings as well as readings of the intimate letters that Lorde and Parker wrote to each other over many years, where their love and mutual respect for each other was evident. The six Black authors, writers and poets who presented were Andrea Canaan, who also emc’d, Andreana Clay, MJ Jones, Europa Grace, Nefertiti Asanti and Thea Matthews.
